	Major Happenings: The Roman Imperial era was inaugurate when on this day in 27 BC the Senate proclaimed Ocatavian to be "Augustus." On this day in 69 AD Otho announced that he was capitulating the throne as he was horrified by the prospect of shedding more Roman blood in a quest for personal glory.  Following a night of meditation, he committed suicide the next morning.
